I spoke with co-owner Safa about Cat Café Antwerp.

The café is supplied daily with fresh sandwiches from the bakery and freshly brewed coffee prepared by the staff. But it’s more than just a cozy spot to grab a coffee. Among the pink accents and playful interior, the cats here have a special purpose: they are all looking for a forever home. Visitors even have the opportunity to adopt the cats they meet here.

Instead of a traditional shelter setting, the café offers a warm, open environment where cats can adjust to people at their own pace. Guests get to know the cats for who they truly are, and sometimes a perfect match happens naturally, according to the “cat distribution system.” Potential adopters are invited for a follow-up conversation with the owners to ensure the right match, as every cat has its own personality.

This personal approach is felt throughout the entire space. Careful attention is given to each cat’s needs and the type of owner that suits them best. It makes visiting not only enjoyable but also meaningful. It’s a place where care and attention come first, without ever feeling heavy. Alongside this beautiful initiative, the café also offers fun activities and creative workshops with the cats. From yoga sessions to pottery painting with your favorite feline, there’s always something special happening.

Behind the scenes, practical matters play an important role as well. With around ten cats in the café, daily care is no small task. What used to be a time-consuming routine, cleaning litter boxes, has become significantly easier thanks to automatic litter boxes. Safa shared that they’ve saved a lot of time and can now monitor the cats remotely via the app.

The café also uses several automatic feeders from Petree, making it much easier to provide food remotely. This is especially helpful during the night when no one is present. The system ensures that all ten cats receive exactly the right amount of food, even overnight.

The difference is noticeable every day. The team now has more time to focus on both the cats and the visitors, while the cats always enjoy a clean and fresh environment. No more manual scooping. Thanks to the sensors in the Petree Cube, the owners can leave with peace of mind. The litter boxes clean themselves automatically, allowing the cats to use them safely at all times.
